At least I have the HVAC heating going for me

There is a real difference between planning a strategy and executing that strategy.

I think this has been one of the most confounding things in my life.

I plan for something and really give it thought, energy and time only to have it play out totally differently than I had planned. I remember complaining to my dad about this. He would just kick back in the HVAC comfort of his study and grin. Dad would say something to the effect that if you want to make God laugh, just tell him all about your plans. Dad was a pretty cool and wise person. But those words were some of his best. That helps a bit when I do really plan something like a move and am blindsided by something sort of obvious. This has happened to me with a move to the northern reaches of the country. I can’t hardly even go outside it’s so cold. The HVAC heating is on so much that I’m probably going to have to dip into savings to pay the utility bill. And yet, I basically overlooked the fact that I was accustomed to a winter where the HVAC heat pump ran but not all the time. Of course I was aware that winter was a much different animal in this area. I just didn’t realize that it was toothy monster. I’m seriously having a nearly impossible time attempting to acclimate to the cold. The HVAC furnace is on all the time and I’m still running a space heater when I come in from outside.
