I can’t believe how much we can control with smartphones
I am still surprised by the number of features that I get with an average smartphone in this day and age.
Back when I obtained a flip phone in the early 2000s, I was just cheerful to have text messaging for the first time, and the phone didn’t even have a camera included.
My upgrade impressed me to no end when I finally had that feature for the first time. But it did have low megapixels and terrible resolution. When smartphones hit the market 6 years later, I was particularly shocked with what the market seemed to be evolving into. There was talk about mobile internet allowing you access to an ipad that was the size of your hand. You could even stream tunes apps in the automobile for the first time ever. GPS was no longer limited to small devices that you had to buy seperately for several hundred dollars and attach it to your dashboard. But with all of the advances in smartphone technology, I still never pictured a day when I could change the indoor temperature of our home while I’m at work or across the country. The air conditioner has a smart thermostat that is linked to our wireless router. I downloaded the app on my phone. It communicates with the smart thermostat at my house whenever it is online. In minutes, I can turn on our heating to get the house warmed up before leaving in the daytime. I can also simply monitor the A/C remotely to make sure there are no malfunctions within the system. Although I don’t use these features on a regular basis, it’s still nice to assume that I have so much control with just my smartphone.
