I can control my A/C with just my smartphone
I am really surprised by the number of features plus capabilities that I get with an average smartphone in this age. Back when I purchased my very first flip phone in the early 2000s, I was just glad to have text messaging on it! The cellphone didn’t even have a camera included with it. My replacement wowed me to no end when I finally had that feature for the first time, albeit with extremely low megapixels plus bad resolution. When smartphones hit the market only seven years later, I was honestly shocked with what the market seems to be evolving into these days. There was talk about mobile internet allowing you access to a computer that was only the size of your hand. You could stream music apps in your car for the first time. And GPS was no longer limited to small devices that you had to buy for hundreds of dollars and then affix to your dashboard. But with all of the advances in smartphone technology that there have been, I never pictured the ability to change the indoor temperature of our apartment while I’m at work or even thousands of miles away on a holiday. The A/C has a smart thermostat that is linked to our WIFI router at home. I downloaded an app on my phone that communicates with the smart thermostat at home while it is online. In just minutes, I can turn on our heat to get the apartment warm before leaving for work, or I can even monitor A/C usage remotely to make sure there are no malfunctions with my system. Although I don’t use these features on an everyday basis, it’s still nice to think that I have so much control with just a cellphone.
